RECENT AURAL PLEASURE:

TRUMP TAX RETURNS: Lawsuit information page for SB 27 (McGuire and Wiener): Primary elections: ballot access: tax returns.

MONEY MATTERS: This is the space where we look at interesting contributions to party committees or non-capped "ballot measure" committee accounts affiliated with legislators. Standard contributions to candidate committees up to the 2020 limit of $9,400 for primary and general are not included.

ELECTION UPDATES:

IN TODAY'S NOONER:

  • Trump tax returns
  • beJUULed
  • Cakeday and Classifieds

First off, happy Cakeday to Ryan McElhinney! I enjoyed hiring him at my staff's recommendation as a newbie to community college lobbying. I was once there and he outshined me.

TRUMP TAX RETURNS: As expected, yesterday judge Morrison England of the Eastern District of California held the SB 27 (Wiener) is unconstitutional. Judge England went further than I expected, citing not only the pre-emption by EIGA, but also the constitutional issues in throwing out the requirement to disclose tax returns in a presidential bid. Xavier Becerra, the Attorney General of California, plans to waste the state's money with an appeal.

beJUULed: The beleaguered e-cigarette company that says it's not tobacco has hired the top regulatory dude from Altria. There really is no nexus to be found here.
