RECENT STTbTN PODS:
- added Marysol Garcia as scheduler for Lorena Gonzalez
Happy Monday! Okay, I know, drop the Monday part of that. I work seven days a week, so the only day I pay attention to is Sunday, as that's all about farmers market an street food in the Southside.
My riff on local government salaries yesterday was a bestseller. But, I only included three samples. So, let's get a few more:
- Commerce (population 12,973): Director of Safety and Community Services: $272,042 plus $51,654 retirement and health contributions - they contract with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for police services.
- Industry (population 205): City Manager: $289,500 plus $70,855 for retirement and health. That is $1,758 per resident.
- Hawaiian Gardens (population 14,473): City Manager: $213,658 plus $69,204 for retirement health
Sacramento's City Manager makes 54 cents per resident. Just think about that. These small cities are mostly industrial, casinos, and that is their tax base. Don't get me wrong. I buy my AG jeans because they are made in South Gate and like industry in SoCal.
I just think that the Sacramento City Manager (and our mayor, Darrell, who is a "weak mayor") should make at least what the mayor of a city with 205 residents makes. That's it.
#CAKEDAY: Light the candles for fellow Aggie James Schwab who is also community college to UC Davis. Rock on! And, birthday wishes to Councilmember Gil Cedillo!
