How does CBD help depression?

¡Buenos dias y feliz jueves!

The California Democratic Party is getting national attention, and it's not for a good reason. The NYT's Adam Nagourney reports on the continuation of the chair's race, which occurred in May. The "establishment" continues to fend off allegations of the "Berniecrats," and there doesn't seem to an end of the drama.

"The party is expected to issue a final ruling on Ms. [Kimberly] Ellis’s allegations by Aug. 20; in an interview, she said she would go to court if the party ruled against her. This has left Mr. [Eric] Bauman, who encountered a barrage of shouts of “not my chairman” when he delivered his victory speech, struggling to put behind him a contest that has been the subject of recounts even as he seeks to position Democrats for a challenging congressional election in 2018."

The unwritten story is not about the candidates for the chair race, but rather the interests behind them. Bauman captured the establishment, including most of labor. Meanwhile, Ellis rode the single-payer ride with the California Nurses Association (CNA), which was her organizing presence. Of course, as a party race, spending is not required to be disclosed. The race about who is running the Democratic Party has less to do with individuals, but rather CNA's goal of a single-payer health care system.

Of course, we saw in the Legislature that there is no single-payer health care system that's ready for prime time, even though most Democrats are in favor of the concept.

SB 562 (Lara) never provided a financing or delivery schema. It created rancor in the Democratic Party's convention and became central to the race for party chair. I'd be willing to bet that 80% of the delegates support single-payer, but they also don't want to put swing seats in play when there is no clear plan forward. Interest groups risk little, but it can be the end of a legislator's career. That's the dynamic.

Upward Mobility at Cal State LA

CALIFORNIA ÜBER ALLES: The Bee's Alexei Koseff reports on the whopping 578 voters who have joined the political party seeking autonomy for California. 16,000 registrations are required to become an offical political party. The name "California National Party" just seems a little reich to me.

#CAKEDAY: Happy birthday to Dominic Dimare, Senator Steve Glazer, Alexander Gurfinkel, Lisa Matoqc, and Kimi Shigetani
