How does CBD help depression?

Well, hello there.

The fight within the California Democratic Party continues, as Kimberly Ellis yesterday challenged the ballot review process in a fundraising email to supporters yesterday. The unsuccessful chair candidate in the close race with Eric Bauman previously has said that she would consider a lawsuit.

I know the players. It came down to 60 votes, even after the ballot audit out of 2,932 votes cast by delegates. Supporters of Bernie Sanders and the California Nurses Association mounted a significant delegate election campaign in regional causes earlier this year, which parlayed into the Ellis campaign that got her close to Eric Bauman's vote total.

I've watched the Democratic Party in California for a long time, and it's never been more divided. Of course, the party's electoral dominance in the Golden State will continue, unless the demographics shift significantly, which is highly unlikely.

AD51 (Downtown LA): The special election for the seat previously held by now-Congressman Jimmy Gomez will be October 3, with a likely December 5 runoff.

CAP-AND-TRADE: Governor Brown will be joined by Arnold Schwarzenegger for today's signing ceremony of the cap-and-trade package on Treasure Island, reports the Bee's Angela Hart.

"Sleazy" Adam Schiff continues to bask in his role of Trump-antagonist-in-chief. This should be a great fundraising quarter for him. He tweets "With respect Mr. President, the problem is how often you watch TV, and that your comments and actions are beneath the dignity of the office."

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION: The fight over affirmative action may be returning, as Senator Ben Hueso and Assemblymember Chris Holden--the chairs of the Latino Legislative Caucus and black legislative caucus respectively--wrote a joint letter to the Democratic gubernatorial candidates asking for their views on the issue, reports Seema Mehta in the Times:

The question raises a 2014 effort led by Latino and black Democratic members of the Legislature to repeal the ban on affirmative action. While polling shows that Democratic voters tend to favor efforts to increase opportunities for underrepresented minorities, schisms emerged on racial lines in the party when state lawmakers tried to repeal the ban.

The measure quietly sailed through the state Senate before it caught the attention of Asian American activists, who vocally argued that their children would be harmed if affirmative action were reinstated.

#CAKEDAY: Happy birthday to Vivi Becerra and Pam Chueh!
