    Analysis

Holly Mitchell took an early exit from this seat after winning a special in SD26, which Curren Price left vacant following his election to the Los Angeles City Council.

The field narrowed significantly when Sebastian Ridley-Thomas, son of supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, captured most elected official endorsements and institutional support. The biggest question may not be who wins the special, but rather whether Ridley-Thomas wins outright on December 3, or gets a late start in the legislative year after the February 4 runoff.
