With the appointment of Assemblymember Rob Bonta to the Attorney General vacancy created by Xavier Becerra move to President Biden's HHS Secretary, there is a special election in 2021 to fill a vacant AD18. The special general election will be held August 31 between Mia Bonta and Janani Ramachandran, the top two vote recipients in the June 29 special primary.
