An act to add Section 44235.5 to the Education Code, relating to
teacher credentialing.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 794, as introduced, Hagman. Teacher credentialing: fees.
Existing law establishes the Commission on Teacher Credentialing
to review and approve applications for and issue teaching and
services credentials, and authorizes the commission to levy fees for
the issuance and renewal of teaching and services credentials, to be
deposited into the Teacher Credentials Fund in the State Treasury.
This bill would require the commission to waive all application
and processing fees for out-of-state applicants for teaching
credentials who relocate to California due to orders received from a
branch of the United States Armed Forces that require the applicant's
spouse to relocate to California.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: yes.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 44235.5 is added to the Education Code, to
read:
44235.5. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the
commission shall waive all application and processing fees for
out-of-state applicants for teaching credentials who relocate to
California due to orders received from a branch of the United States
Armed Forces that require the applicant's spouse to relocate to
California.
